Welcome to new local government member – City of Whittlesea!
The City of Whittlesea is located in Melbourne’s north, about 20km from the Central Business District (CBD). The Metropolitan Ring Road provides direct freeway links to airports, docks and central Melbourne.
Street trees are an important asset through the City of Whittlesea, and provide many benefits to their community including:
- providing much needed shade in urban areas
- habitat for native wildlife
- contributing to neighbourhood character and positively impacting on streetscape amenity
- reducing air pollution in an efficient and cost-effective way
In 2019 they adopted a new street tree management plan, ‘Greening Our Streets’ which is guiding how they choose, plant, maintain, protect and value urban street trees over the next 10 years.
