Message from Chair, Lyndal Plant
Spring has arrived and thousands of new Council tree plantings are now beginning their establishment and growth journey. Thanks to the nurseries who grew the trees, the arborists who planted them, and to all those who care for trees – your work has never been more important or in demand. Thanks also to the horticulturists and arborists who care for our botanic gardens so magnificently – check out the videos below of the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia’s staff who helped make our symposium such a success. As Dr Jacob Mills highlighted in his symposium presentation on urban microbiome restoration, skills and innovation across many fields of horticulture and arboriculture are essential to healthy trees, biodiversity above and below ground, and healthy people and communities. Enjoy this edition of Treenet News, don’t forget to share it with your friends and colleagues, and make sure you get under a tree soon to top-up your personal microbiome!
