Stefan is an empirical ecologist and environmental policy specialist who bridges government and academia. His current role is the Regional Coordinator for Resilient South, a partnership between the South Australian government and the Cities of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Mitcham and Onkaparinga which is focused on climate adaptation and mitigation in Adelaide’s south. Stefan is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Adelaide.
Stefan has a strong interest in plant ecology and because growing urban canopy is one of the simplest “no regrets” ways of improving climate readiness (and many other benefits!), he finds himself increasingly focused on tree and greening issues. To learn more about tree management, Stefan completed a Diploma of Arboriculture two years ago and is now working with many partners to build a cohort of urban foresters who can more effectively manage Adelaide’s trees for everyone’s benefit.
